Knowledge

Nahhh...Dana Kamm (dsk) is the encyclopedia. I'm the troubleshooter.
Jim Keenan is the custom builder on the board, and OLD FUFF still ain't
admittin' to what he REALLY knows...but I'll corner him one day.:D

Now, a plug for Silent One...If ya want a NICE set of grips, talk to the man.

Cheers!

I would sum up some of the posts as we would agree to disagree on choices. We are all offering opinions, with our bias filters on.

To get back to what Gunbot was originally looking for a no frills, reliable 1911 on a budget: Of your three choices, I would probably settle on a Springer.

What I would do in real life with my money is go look for a used Norinco in the $300 ish price range, yeah they are getting a little hard to find. This in my mind is the best mix of low dollars out now, quality, and best to upgrade later.

These have developed quite a following hence, hard to find ( not really rare ) in stock configuration, for a decent price. Of all the lower dollar guns these seem to have the most positive comments overall.

Hope this helps...shoot well

Bingo! No MIM or investment castings....a real spring steel extractor,
and as tough as a piece of pig iron. Wish I had my time to do over.
I'd have a dozen of'em.

Cheers!

I grew up with the dancing pony.
Got to admit that Springer has really surprised me, I recommend it.
Now ya'll hush up about the Norinco ... I know a fella and I'm scheming.:)
[I still have not forgiven this fella for trading a Belgium BHP in on a Glock, he really ought to give me the 'rinco to shut up and quit the ridicule - doncha think? ]
;)

WISHING

Wish I had a Noriyco compact!!!!!!!

I have a fullsize Norinco that I dug from my fire remains. It was rusted and all the springs were soft and I gave it away along with other guns to a friend. He took the Norinco and had hardness tests run and it checked out O.K.

He then baked on a finish and replaced all the springs, test fired it several times and then brought it back to me.

I have fired it many times now and it works great!!!!!!!
