Who Likes A Good Challenge?

I've been spending a lot of time lately reading up on snubnose revolvers and the training and usage thereof. I was mightily impressed to see Hickok45 of Youtube fame ding a steel plate at 80 yards 3 out of 5 times with a S&W 642, and I'm intrigued by Bethencourt's reloading methods...

All this to say that learning how to push a snubnose to its limits seems like an awesome challenge to me. It's probably the late hour and my sleep-deprived ADD mind, but I was curious to know... what firearm or weapon related challenges have YOU undertaken? Have you spent the last 5 years perfecting your 1000 yard shot? Have you mastered detail stripping and reassembling 79 separate Soviet weapons? Have you developed the ultimate elk load for your favorite rifle?

Who Likes A Good Challenge?

Being lucky enough to have a home range and liking a challenge I try some unorthodox challenges at times.

I like to shoot small handguns at 52 yards, standing, two hands.
The S&W J Frame is my favorite.............




.......but even the little pocket pistols are fun, and surprisingly accurate.



For some time after Texas got concealed carry I would spout off that the 50 round timed qualification was so easy you could pass it with your eyes closed.
One day I thought, "Back up your mouth" So I ran the course by the numbers, except I forfeited 50 points by not shoot the 10 rounds at 15 yards.
I passed, while shooting with my eyes closed.



But it wasn't that hard since once in a while I target shoot with my eyes closed.
The day I bought a CZ40P I shot it at 10 yards as soon as I got home. The gun pointed so natural for me I shot 6 rounds with my eyes closed.


Later I tried it again.



I'll tell new shooters, "If you learn to maintain the proper sight picture as you squeeze the trigger you will hit what you are aiming at, or very close, even if you bend over and shoot between your legs".
One day shooting my new Beretta 9mm PX4, at 10 yards, I thought, "Don't be saying it if you can't prove it", so I faced away from the targets, bent over and shot these 4 targets between my legs.
You can imagine just what a 73 year old man looks like doing this, so this won't be something I will be demonstrating.

Following in Hickok45's shooting, I've started to shoot at 200 yards standing with my XD40. Every 2 or 3 rounds I'll actually score a hit on the gong.

I enjoy his channel too. Great stuff on there with a lot of different guns. With my S&W Model 27 .38 Special I can hit standard 10 ring targets that are about 10" wide at 100 yards about every time. Was using handloads that werent perfect so there was a little deviation in fps that caused different poi on a few rounds which accounted for some of the misses. Its a lot of fun shooting revolvers that far.
