I ran across a couple hundred 32 auto brass for a song, so the plan is to load these for the 32swl revolvers. I know case capacity is slightly lower so I need a slightly smaller charge than in the longs to keep pressures similar, but I have seen zilch for data on 32acp loaded for 32long. Any experience, insight, or data would be greatly appreciated.

If nobody has data I will cut 32swl data by 25% and ladder up to listed 32swl starting loads but no higher.

i am unfamiliar with those rounds, so this is a ? more than an answer but does the .32 auto round fit the revolver without having a rim on the case?

32 auto is semi-rimmed, and does in fact fit like it was meant to be used in those guns. 32 auto though runs a higher pressure in a shorter case which could potentially cause problems if loaded to warm 32 auto levels.

32s are neat guns, and are growing neater every decade or two. Started out as 32sw (32 short) then came 32swl (32 long) and 32acp soon after. More recently 32 H&R mag, and last but certainly not least 327 federal. These are listed in power level too so anything weaker will work in the respective guns...but length certainly doesn't mean much on pressure on these.

Depends on the gun you're shooting them in.
A H&R magnum or .327Fed; you won't see any issues. You just about can't get too much powder in the tiny case.
However, if one of the older .32S&W's or a .32Colt, I'd use .32S&W short data.
I recently used some .32short loaded with 1.1gr of Bullseye and it was just about factory level or perhaps a bit stouter.

BTW; I was using a Lyman .311" 78gr RN bullet. Accuracy from a circa 1910 S&W Hand Ejector was stunning after I'd fitted a new cylinder locking bolt. I don't think the factory original was ever "right". Owner claimed that the gun would mis-fire occasionally the first time he shot it with his grandfather as an adolescent, and he's 72yrs old!!!
He only had some fired .32S&W short cases, even though the gun is chambered for the .32long.
After repair, we were bouncing soda can's at 15yds, and it was hitting poa/poi.
It didn't even dawn on me to try the .32acp cases in it.

I've been eyeing the Ruger Single-7's. May get the urge again to get one.
I really enjoy shooting my KelTec .32, but despise the way it flings those tiny cases!!!

I had a Beretta "Tomcat" that with 1.8gr of Bullseye and 78gr RN would out-shoot my M-22 Glock at 25yds. But, I shot it so much that I cracked the frame and slide. Beretta did replace the gun, however. I sold the new one NIB.

I enjoy shooting the .32 auto as well, but lose more .32 cases than everything else combined. I think some of them slip into a time warp immediately after ejection.

WK, follow Gooses advise. :)

By the way, the gun is a Smith&Wesson 30-1 that I am primarily loading for, but rounds may also go through an RG (strictly weak shorts in the rg). The S&W I plan to actually use a bit when I want to carry small and light.
