I have a Marlin 1894C in 357. Every once in a while my wife lets me shoot it. Oh well, she shoots it better than I do anyway. Great gun shoots 357 & 38 SP both. I also have the 1894 in .44 mag. While basically the same gun it has an oversized barrel and is picky about what it shoots. It is also a 2-shooter as it suffers from the dreaded ‘Marlin Jam’. The fix is supposedly simple but I am not one to mess with the innards of a gun. I could send it back to Marlin but that is a lot of trouble. Competent gunsmiths in my area are rare and until I find one I guess it will continue to be a 2-shooter. This is not too bad as I mainly use it as a range gun. If I were to go deer hunting with a .44 it would be my Ruger Deerfield, hands down.
