Who makes the best EXTERNAL extractor 1911?

The so called "fragility" of Sigs (speaking of the full size 5") were due to SIGs initial reasoning that quality outsourced parts from many quality vendors could just be assembled with little to no fitting and sent out into the publics arms

i think an early mistake was to base their decisions on an expert who didn't have alot of experience in production line manufacturing

S&W utilize the Schwartz safety system and have had numerous problems with their external extractor

are you saying that these 2 things are related or just taking a shot at the Schwartz safety system? their FP safety is my one major objection to the S&W 1911...but i believe they have corrected their tolerence problem with them, much as Sig has addressed theirs'

Only one I have is the Wilson KZ-45. Owned it for almost 10 years now, hasn't failed yet.

I am not an engineer, so I cant tell you how they fouled up the manufacturing and fitting process. But the end result was that the external extractor did not extract as reliably as Kimber's already crappy internal extractor.

Well, I've only owned one EE Kimber, and seven Kimbers total. Each has worked flawlessly...

So in my (admittedly limited) experience of EE 1911 pistols, I'd say Kimber is just fine.

This does not diminish the experience of others; only documents my own experience.

I've read both good and bad about the S&W EE 1911s, and would not hesitate to buy one if I found an SC 1911 at the right price.

I had a kimber with an ee that had problems from the get go and way past the "break in" period. Switched to a S&W and have not had a problem yet in over a year.
