How's it going? Just wanted some straightforward thoughts on what ya'lls favorite rail-mounted laser sight was.

Before you say CT, as much as I like their products, the rifle this laser will be going on will not have railing on the bottom for Crimson Trace's MVF-515 vertical grip/laser/light combo.

It will be on either the left or right side of the gun.

The only other laser companies I know is Lasermax (I've heard mixed reviews on their products) and Viridian (I've heard generally good reviews on their products).

What do you guys run on your systems that you would actually recommend to other people? I don't mind if the projection color is either red or green.

Thanks in advance to all of those who reply. Try not to flame me for wanting a laser as I'm still addicted first and foremost to iron sights (maybe because I'm still a young, newbie shooter).

My rail mounted lasers are Streamlight TLR-2 laser/lights.
I have them on everything from 22 pistols to rifles to shotguns.

The laser is a low light/dark sighting tool, which means that many times you also have to have a light source to see and identify the target before using the laser to shoot it.

I bought a LaserMax rail mounted laser to try out. It is poorly made and poorly designed and I had to send it in to be repaired shortly after I got it.
It is a nice small package though.

I've been shooting since the 1950's and I think (good) gun mounted lasers are one of the best things to ever come out for fast, accurate low light shooting.

ALL my defense guns are equipped with lasers or laser/lights, if available for the gun.

You can actually buy a Insight CVL or even a Atpial AN-PEQ15 training unit with are visible laser only.

As far as name brand US available laser sights I couldnt tell you.
Our country doesnt allow many laser devices to be imported because of the power levels available abroad. There are good laser sights available that can be used as a weapon themselves, what I mean by this is the ability to burn through a CD crystal case from a good distance, being visible for many miles even in partial light.
I have one laser sight on a glock (doesnt work, I have to rewire it), I dont think that I really have a need for one on any other firearm though.

"Are you looking for a recreational laser, or a serious tool for work?"

It will be for recreational and home defense purposes; sorry for not stating that earlier. I will use it with both a PS90 and a Saiga with standard railing.

That $699 Surefire seems expensive, is it bulky as well?

I may just end up going with the TLR-2 if the general consensus agrees with that decision.

My only concern is, was that light/laser combo better suited for handguns?

I was curious if there are major differences in intensity for lasers and lights typically attached to handguns vs. those typically attached to rifles.

Thank you again for all of the input so far (or period, if this thread never gets another response :( ).
