Who needs 9mm Luger ammo?

A technical ammo question (and yes I feel stupid for even having to ask, but I'm not yet an ordnance/ammo expert): does the "subsonic" part of the WWB on offer from CTD mean that it would not provide good practice experience if one is trying to get used to shooting SD loads of 147 JHP? (specifically, Speer Gold Dots)

I'm looking to pick up some 147-gr range ammo for this purpose, but am not sure what the "subsonic" might mean for these two sorts of ammo being similar enough in performance that I'd be getting a good feel for how my 9mm pistol would work with the JHPs.

Any help appreciated ....

All 147gr 9x19 (non +P)ammo is subsonic. It's really hard to get a 147gr bullet to 1150fps or better out of the 9x19 case capacity and SAAMI pressure specs..

Much obliged, rbernie. So as I'm planning to use non +P SD ammo, these 147-gr rounds should do fine as practice ammo. The price isn't "cheap as dirt" but it's not as outlandish as some of the prices at CTD, so there we go.

Where I am in southern Maine, 44 Rem Mag, 357 Sig, 357 Mag, and 40 S&W, are the only handgun calibers that I am able to find in limited quantities. It is in that order as well for which ones I see the in my Wally World visits. 9mm and 45 acp and 380 are hard to come by. 22's are still on the shelf most everytime, unlike what I have read in other parts of the country.

My wal-mart had the shelves full of 9mm and .40 caliber blazer brass, told the guy that I wanted 4 boxes of 9mm and 2 boxes of .40 caliber, surprisely he went to the back to get them. Apparently they have stocked up alot of ammo but I still dont see any .380 rounds. It seems like the price went down well where the price used to be, 9mm was $9.20 per box including tax and about $11.32 for .40 caliber. Hopefully this continues to be like this. :D
