Hi,

When the powder famine was at its peak, I ended up getting some Accurate 2495 powder. I got raked over the coals on the price at the time, but figured it might be a good choice for my 30-30 Winchester and maybe 223 Remington that I load for.

When I looked later, there didn't seem too much in the way of current load data available for AA 2495 in 223 and the 55gr fmj bullets that I often use. However, I did find some loads that I really like in my Winchester 94 30-30.

The burn rate chart shows it to be pretty close to a lot of very popular powders, but I don't seem to hear much about this powder.

Anyone else use it and with what ammunition?

When I bought my first AA2495 it was new on the market and I called Accurate Arms. They told me they blended it so the pressure curve was the same as IMR 4895. Stupidly they call it AA2495 instead of AA4895 and confuse everybody.

I don’t shoot 55 grain bullets in the 223, the lightest I go is the 69 match. As you can see, from my data, AA2495 is about the same as IMR 4895, grain for grain, within lot differences.

I shot about three kegs of the stuff in my quest for a Distinguished rifleman badge, most of it in M1a's. Just use IMR 4895 data and you will be fine.

Thanks for the info Slamfire1,

I just found it odd that 2495 is not listed in places where I would expect it to be used.

AA2495 is quite a bit slower than the "usual" powders used in light bullet .223 loads. Accurate has a powder specifically made for use in the .223 which is AA2230. (and not the new LT-32 if you can find any)
