I sure do. I feel like most 40 cal bullets are designed for 40 short & weak velocities. Not being interested in cast I've been searching for a better "woods load" bullet for hot 10mm loads. So, today I sent Hornady this email. Anyone else concur, want to pile it on so they get the message?

"I love your XTP handgun bullets & use them in all pistol caliber applications. That said, I have run into a problem with loading full house 10mm where your 40 cal offerings aren't as tough as I would like. I assume your current offerings are designed for 40 S&W velocities. I want something that holds together better for deeper penetration at top end 10mm velocities. Does Hornady have any interest in making a 40 cal 200gr XTP-FP? I know many people including myself who use a 10mm for woods carry and want something very tough, but don't want to shoot hard cast. Thanks."

I'd like see shallow cavity Gold Dots. The few times I carry the 10mm it's loaded with 200gr WFNs for the trail, excellent combination. :)

Normally I think plated bullets (including gold dots) are too soft for full house 10, but a design similar to the 357 SIG gold dot (shallow cavity) might be nice. I still think the XTP is the most accurate handgun bullet out there, in general.

The 180 gr. and 200 gr. XTP's aren't moving much, if any faster than the .40 cal. loaded with 155 gr. XTP's. My loads are always full house for the .40 using 155 gr. XTP's with HS6 or Longshot, and those bullets have no problem holding together when tested on wet denim. What kind of expansion / penetration tests have you conducted that lead you to believe the jacket is too soft?

I've recovered a few 200gr XTPs from mud that have shed their jackets. I run them 1300-1350 fps which is faster than recommended in this chart. Where do you run your 155s?

For a "woods load" I'm not looking for big expansion, I'm looking for maybe a tad expansion but with lots of penetration. I think a lot of 10mm owners may be in the same boat. It appears that the 200gr XTP is designed to be a little softer than its lighter brethren, assuming once again it's designed for 40 velocities.

I run them right up into the 1300's with no problems of any sort. Longshot at maximum charge doesn't get spikey at all for me in the .40 cal.. But shedding jackets is something I've had little issues with. Even when I'm pushing high velocity 9mm and .357 mag. XTP's the jacketed is always in full tact, and fully expanded as well in the wet denim tests I've done. The bullet I've had separate on me was a Sierra, 150 gr. if memory serves me well.
