Somebody mentioned Ingis, I think they meant Inglis. The Inglis Hi-Power was made in Toronto, Ontario during WW11 under license from FN. Because N.A. was not yet metric converted American Standard measurements were used. Parts are not all interchangeable. At the conclusion of the WW11 the tooling was sold to India where pistols I am told are still produced known as Indian Inglis which is a shame because the Inglis out of Canada was a first class pistol - I have a mint example. Canada made a bunch of them for the Chinese during the war and a ton of them for the other allies. The gun is still in service with the Canadian Army - I am told there are still a substantial of unissued pistols yet in stores. Our naval boarding parties now use Sigs and I have heard talk of replacing the Hi-Powers but I doubt soon given pistols are pretty low priority items for the battlefield and we have a large number of unissued Inglis Hi-Powers still in stores.
