Why did I do that?

Ok, so please don't beat me too bad for this I realize it was not a good idea. (Nothing dangerous, just dumb) Ok, so I was worried about not cleaning the lube off my reloads (first batch) and figured it might have melted in the chamber of my Mini-14 while shooing them. So to clean it out I used a brass brush smaller than the chamber wrapped in a patch and wet with Hoppes 9 and spun it by hand in the chamber, it worked ok, but it was to loose. So I got one a size bigger and with the patch on it it was fairly snug, but not tight, so I was spinning it and my finger hit the bolt release and it pushed the brush tight against the bore, not in the bore, but up against it. Since the brush was probably the 20 gauge brush (or close) it was obviously not coming out the bore, so I pulled it back out the chamber. I am kind of worried that it may have marred or scratched the chamber. I really doubt it, but wanted to make sure it sounded fine. Since then I have fired five rounds through it was no issue, functioning like always.

What do you guys think? I know it wasn't the brightest idea..

Not as stupid as me hooking my cleaning rod (with a slightly bent .22 brass brush) up to my Dremel to clean the chamber of an old milsurp trainer.

Brass bristles EVERYWHERE.

(Gun was fine though. :))

If that's highest on your list of things to worry about you're a lucky man :)

I wouldn't think of it again if I were you, no problem.

Heck, that's SOP for cleaning a Mosin chamber, except you use a .40 brush.
