Why are you here? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it?
What can we do to make it more pleasant and informational to shooters and non-shooters alike?

One of the forums I frequent that isn't loaded with whiny pre-pubescent 13 year olds wondering if they are normal.

It's a great change to discuss an obviously favorite hobby that many people share and to discuss it maturely and logically.

Because I enjoy firearms.

I also visit other sites from time to time, but THR was always showing up in most of my searches about firearms. So eventually I joined and now I frequent THR 99% of the time.

Because if you say something stupid they let you know it.

Also true and always a good thing.

What can we do to make it more pleasant and informational to shooters and non-shooters alike?

Have a "caliber war" sticky so the board doesn't get clogged with the weekly "X caliber is better than Y caliber and you suck if you think otherwise!" At the very least we need a "45ACP vs 9mm" sticky since that seems to be where most of the battles are fought.

I had never heard of THR until I stated researching a couple diffrent guns on the net. THR kept popping up. I would run throug threads and actually learned something about what I was asking. I joined to learn and possibly to give some knowledge as well. I read alot more than I post.

This site has more information about firearms, reloading, firearm laws and "subject matter experts" than any other web site, magazine or book. Plus you can always find someone with a completely different view point....even if they are completely wrong.

I agree with crazy-mp. The collective knowledge of the members of this board is enormous.
I have never seen a question that was not answered after separating the wheat from the chaff ....and the occasional competitive urination.

I like to come here to learn, to debate/discuss issues, to "hang out" with the best of the best, also everyone here seems to have the same basic beliefs and hobby as me. My favorite things about THR is the fact that few here are really judgmental, and we all seem to be adult about things(we do all have our moments though), this site is generally the best moderated I have ever found. Even though at times I may disagree with the mods, and feel we should have some sort of "appeal" process, they do their job well:)

Because someone built it, I felt compelled to come. :D

Or, when you shoot a gun, it warps space and time around you and space will "push" you here...it's called General Ballistic Relativity. :D

Or, the Google made me do it.

I think I like the Relativity Theory best.

I enjoy the knowledge base that a site like this one provides... In some instances I can share my knowledge with others, and in other cases I can learn from those who know things that I don't!

I practically learned to handload off of this site... Between reading some load manuals and double checking concerns I had with the posters in the handloading section, I was up and running in no time!

I came here because I found a lot of useful information when doing some research before my gun purchases. Also, there seems to be people who love all brands of firearms and not totally for or against a particular brand.

Because THR Staff stuck a hammer in my hand and in return for hammering in planks of this new Forum -

I was supposed to get a decoder ring.
I wanted the green one.

I still ain't got my decoder ring, but I "are" persistent, so if I keeps hanging around, I figger I gonna gets my decoder ring someday.

The green one, though I will take a gray one as that is my other color.

I like that for the most part its not just a long list of personal attacks and BS. I like to read the threads and throw my 2cents in when I think it could help. There is an outragous amount of info here if you ask the right questions.

All great reasons that I agree with. But I'm still looking for the answer to my age old question...

Why does everyones boat keep sinking with their gun collection on it?:D I thought that I was the only one with this problem in the past. But I've seen it here several different times.

In all seriousness, I like being around (if only in spirit) like minded people. It's a good place to get help if it's needed, and it's a good place to lend a helping hand if asked or warranted. Bashers need not apply, but a little good natured ribbing never hurts for very long.

There's a wealth of knowledge that visits this board. Just sometimes you need knee boats to wade through the BS to find it. (So far I haven't needed hip boots yet.)

I came hear to learn because I am new to guns and in my evey day life I dont know anyone who is knowledgable about guns. So I started googling stuff to learn and THR kept showing up.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more civilized bunch. Not a great deal of repeated internet nonsense either.
"...they let you know it..." But in a relatively polite way.

I came here because I am relatively new to gun ownership and because a friend of mine told me to check it out.

What I love: Vast wealth of information here, and people willing to answer questions.

What I don't like: although I know the rules of the forum, I have seen the words "OFF TOPIC" and threads closed on several that I would have loved to continue on.

A combination of Google searches leading me here several times, and getting sick of /k/ being terrible. I'm all for a giggle here and there, but thread after thread of DEAGLE KATANA SPETZNAZ GLOCKNADE made me wanna scream.

The maturity level required for participation is high and kept high. Good. And it represents the best of the web in community discussion; calls out the b.s. of ALL the anti-gun crowd. Poor firearms handling is mercilessly ridiculed. Shows that we are knowledgeable, educated, organized, and we DO give a damn about firearms safety. Whereas the bad and the ignorant guys don't, and never will.
I wish the mods would bring back the Politics forum. Sure it got a little heated at times, but I think spirited debate is a good thing.
