Have an Open Revolver category?

It would be a more interesting category, with the 8 shot N frames and 7 shot L frames. I've even heard rumor of a 10 shot .357 MAX chambering coming in the X frame. Wouldn't that be a blast to shoot .38's through!

This would also give the guys with scopes a shot instead of getting their butts kicked in the regular Open and Production division.

USPSA/IPSC has too many divisions already. Just man up and shoot that open revolver in open. You won't be competitive but you get resepect from the open gun guys.

Revo is already a bastard division already. Too many divisions just waters down the whole darn game. The whole "everyone has to be a winner" attitude grates on me...

But, I remember JM showing up at nationals a few years ago when revo division was new. Maybe 99 or 2000. He had an open revo thinking there was an Open Revo and Limited Revo divisions. When he found out there wasnt one, he bailed.

How do you get that? Shooting a revolver in IPSC takes a very specialized skill set, and a good shooter with a revolver doesn't take a back seat to anyone in any other division as far as "practical" goes. If you doubt it, be my guest and give it a try, and don't be surprised if you end up as a "C" shooter in Revo the first few times you try it.

I dunno, I have a friend who had no issues shooting his open Revolver in IPSC/USPSA and he managed to get into B with it. The open shooters north of the border also don't seem to have too many issues shooting open 10 (nothing over 10 round mags allows in Canada). If you want to shoot open revvolver, pony up and find yourself and ICORE club. Most people shoot their 8 shooters there and some die hards like myself still prefer a limited 6 shooter.

If you're in Texas you may run across Rudi Waldinger. Real nice Austrian guy, shoots the heck out of a scoped, comped 627 in Open. one of the best wheelgunners out there. He used to live up my way and I had the pleasure of watching him.

Rudy used to shoot out here in California at the range in Richmond with the "Richmond Hotshots". I've yet to meet him at any of the bigger Revolver matches. We're blessed with a couple of top 5 Revolver competitors at the Hotshots range. John Bagakis and Dan Carden. Our club sent 4 Revolver shooters to the USPSA Revolver nationals this year. Since there were 39 of us, that's fully 10% of competitors. Dan is one of the few Revolver GM's, John is an M, I'm a high B.. hopefully soon to break into A.

My friend who made B open used to shoot with Rudy and has told me many a story of his abilities with a revolver and a lasso. :)

I have tried it. Have the Master card to prove it...

I only say bastard division as there are so few people shooting it. The odd man out at any match. Local, Area, or Nationals. That does not mean the guys that shoot it are any less of a shooter than any other shooter.
