"Why I Carry a Gun"

Sorry Chipperman, will yuo please to spell this "CPR" for me. (There is Atlantic Ocean beteen you and I).

CPR = Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

It's the act of prolonging someone's life or reviving them (resuscitation) using chest compressions to circulate the blood (cardio) and blowing into their mouth to provide oxygen to the lungs (pulmonary).

p.s. you never answered my question about you not needing to carry guns for protect yourself or your family. See post #24.

Nice post.

For a person on the verge of death because of a heart problem, every second counts. But the paramedics, who have with them a crucial, life-saving tool— the defibrillator—, will be minutes away. And without that defibrillator, no matter how hard I try, using CPR alone, I only have about a five to ten percent chance of saving that person’s life.

If I may suggest one factoid that may help further illustrate the urgency of the situation..."for each minute that passes during cardiac arrest, the chances of survival decrease by approximately 10%..."

The old Boy Scout idea of 'always be prepared' is alive and well with some today. Good to see you're one of them.

If I had a crystal ball I would know what roads to steer clear of and what parking lots to avoid, but since I lack such a device, I have to be content with always being as prepared as reasonably possible.

I always tell my self that 99.99 percent of the time I dont need it but if I should need it in a very rare occasion. There would be no question of its need as I would probably be dead otherwise.

TwitchALot-
Great read!!!!
The best appluse I can give is, with your permission, to add this to my humble little website/blog (which is mainly seen by family and a few friends- I have a couple sisters that need to read this!), of course proper credit will be given.

A gun (for personal defense) is like a fire extinguisher; you hope you never need to use it, but you really want it handy, if you do.

I don't have either the permit or the carry gun yet, but I'm a mom and I decided to do this for a reason that I summed up yesterday morning while watching TV with the 2yo.

I will be carrying a gun because not all monsters live on Sesame Street.

(And I would love to see Oleg make a poster of that one because I think there would be some terrific visuals possible and because it would resonate strongly with any mother).

I'd like to see Oleg make one with the monsters from the book "Where the Wild Things Are".

Neither do I... One can dream though, right?

I have firearms because I ain't going to be stepped on by a Tyrant, or being pushed around by an opposing force.

forgive me, I have been paranoid of SHTF lately, as well as invasion from another country. I just won't let it happen. Not to me, not my family... no Flippin way.
