Why is it so hard to find a good $200-$400 scope with a gloss finish?

I have a vintage Weaver, high gloss blue steel & I love it. I agree the world would be a better place if they were to come back. Until then, this will have to do:

Not trying to be critical either, but a gloss finish is much more prevalent in what I consider "the old classic look" than a matte finish. Perhaps I'm aging myself.
