The NRA is talking about having armed guards or police at schools, strengthening background checks, and working harder to keep felons and the mentally ill from having guns. All of these are great ideas.

However, over 93% of shootings are young black men shooting other young black men, over 96% of shootings are done with a pistol, not a so-called assault weapon, and the majority of these criminals are not mentally ill and obtain the guns through illegal means, thus bypassing background checks. Mass/School shootings are only 1% of shootings yet garner all of the media attention.

You can say the mainstream media and the general public don't care about black people shooting black people because it's true. There was over 500 murders in Chicago alone and you almost never heard about 1 of those murders. However, Trayvon Martin is shot by a "White-Hispanic" and it's all over the news.

It's not politically correct to say, but the majority of the problem is young black men who are not mentally-ill who obtain guns illegally.

The question the NRA and everyone else needs to be asking and talking about is how are we going to solve the real problem, which is these young black men getting illegal guns and using them.
.

Because the average shooting comprises two (or more) members of the Liberal Constituency.......

Because that's the argument that the antis are presenting.
When young black males shoot each other, it is a 'gang problem'. When a white guy shoots a load of kids, it's a 'gun problem'.
The antis have set the stage for the debate, and have chosen a nice juicy massacre to further their agenda. Gang violence doesn't fit their argument, so they ignore it.

What are they going to do? Campaign to make gangs and illegal guns illegal?

Solving that problem requires a change in the culture of violence. The NRA should not be involved in that.

The NRA simply favors the individual right of self defense and 2A rights whether they are black, white, brown, yellow, or green skinned people. They don't need to get into a race issue and be called racists.

I doubt this is true. But most of them vote D. That's a fact. At least half of the people you refer to would not consider themselves liberal. They simply vote D because they think it helps keep the checks flowing whether it be for themselves or people they know.

True. However, when they are forced to talk about "gun violence" they should be able to bring up the facts and the truth.

Investing in inner city communities, public education, and creating employment is expensive and difficult.

because cause the issues you decribe have almost nothing to do with guns. Young poor, uneducated people with no family structure shoot other people in the same situation. Lots of issues and things to dicuss with it, but none of it is gun related, so why should the NRA be involved?

Because school shootings aren't gun related either, they are mental illness related.
The antis bring this fight to us, not the other way around.

Actually, I just saw a clip of Mr LaPierre on the news, and he was asking why we weren't debating these issues, so he did in fact raise it in the discussion.

For the same reason tobacco industry lobbies do not talk about lung cancer. And also because they are too busy threatening house of representative members against voting for measures that the vast majority of their constituents support, such as the President's plan to reduce gun violence. Don't get me wrong, I am an avid hunter.

Laughter at what? The fact that the vast majority of the American people reject paranoid conspiracy theories and support common sense measures that reduce violence and save lives? The NRA may represent paranoid conspiracy and the unethical assault weapons industry, but it does not represent the People.

The real problem is their motive for committing homicides in gang/dealer turf wars. Take away the motive, prevent the homicide.

The NRA doesn't talk about The War on Drugs aka Prohibition The Sequel, nor do I expect them to. Their job is to protect our civil rights in regards to the 2A, not try to solve all the issues created by the moral crusaders.

Ok I'll bite.

How exactly would banning rifles with certain cosmetic features or magazines that hold more than ten rounds reduce violence and save lives?

The NRA is proposing armed guards in schools. The idea is that if some nutter goes on a rampage, the guards can shoot them. That is how you save lives.

The NRA is not 'paranoid' and neither are we. Our society is plagued with violent crime, and the NRA are defending our right to the means to defend ourselves from it.

Hi Welcome

So, what do you hunt?

Millions of semiauto rifles, used in less than 1% of firearms related crime, and the antis want to ban them for looking scary?

That's paranoid.
