The AR15 has been adapted to many calibers, why not for a 12ga shotgun. Cobb Mfg. has redesigned it for the 50 BMG, Looks like a AR15 shotgun would be no problem. It should be quite accurate with slugs with a free floated barrel. Also with a adjustable gas block it would be very reliable with all loads. The mag well could be made longer and widened to fit a 15 rnd double stack magazine. The retail cost might be expensive but I believe it could be done.

What do you think?

Other then a detachable box magazine, what would be the advantage over currently available combat shotguns?

A classic stocked shotgun would be faster on target, smoother pointing, and far superior for every shotgun use except blasting/burning up a lot of ammo.

I also think the feds & many States might take a dim view of a new 15-shot scattergun. Shades of Street-Sweeper all over again, ya know!

The Turks currently manufacture an AR15 that shoots .410 shells.

Can't think of the name of it now, but it's been mentioned on THR before.

Looks spot on like an AR, too (unlike the "AR on major steroids" of the USAS-12).

It can be done better than the USAS12. The advantage is it's fire power, faster loading than a mag tube shotgun and better accuracy with slugs. Try to fit 15 to 20 rnds in a tube shotgun. It shouldn't be any slower on target than a regular AR15 or a AK47 Saiga 12.

Bill Holmes designed a AR style 12ga in the late 70's or early 80's. I know it is included in one of his books and I think there was even one written about it specificaly.

Atchisson's shotgun

The Dae Woo USAS-12 was developed and released during the 1980s.

It's still being made and Dae Woo does make a select fire version.

It is mostly based off the 1970s Atchisson Assault-12.

MPS Inc bought the rights to the Atchisson Assault-12 during the mid-80s and have recently released the modernized version of it, now called the Auto Assault-12.

you can get 20 round drums for the saiga now. One company has one on the market and another will have theirs out by christmas. Love my S12.

The USAS-12 is an NFA destructive device. But wouldn'tcha know it--the Ameetec-12, which is pretty much the same thing, is not! It even uses the same magazines and operates in the same maanner.

There's also the Safir Arms T-14 in .410. I don't know jack about firearms importation and the T-14 may very well be not importable for civilian use.
