I am looking for an 18 or 20" barrel for my Benelli M1 Super 90. Why are they so hard to get? Anyone have any suggestions?

When you drive a Ferrari, you can't buy engine parts at Pep Boys.
Or so Benelli would have you believe.

They seem to be very fussy about who can sell their barrels.
Even Brownell's can't sell them.

You have to go to a certified Benelli dealer, order one, and pay the MSRP, or more.

Even then, it may take six months to get one, like my friends $80 buck left-hand recoil pad for a Benelli Comfortech stock.

In the long run, it would probably be faster and cheaper to trade your gun for the M1 TackyCool you really want.

As rc noted, Benelli is treading dangerously close to the "We're HK, we hate you and you suck" way of doing business. And he's correct on the best option as well, unfortunately.

I already have a cool Benelli M1. But a longer barrel would be handy occasionally.

this being obvious, it's amazing these companies are still supported. I really want a USP, but will not buy one because HK is an awful company. to the OP, an 18.5-20" barrel would serve no further purpose than the barrel you have...in my opinion.

Thanks. And the extra $200 for the stamp doesn't seem like much when you're paying for a Benelli.

It's my 'house' gun.

Oddly, it shoots slugs really well.

I have to echo what the other guys said. Parts are expensive and tough to track down. For what one would cost, you might honestly want to consider a Mossberg 500 8-shot or Winchester 1300 8-shot used ina shop or gunbroker. Or your garden variety pump of your choice and a decent extension.

It's that H&K attitude- "Because you suck, and we hate you." :D

lpl (friends don't let friends shoot benellis :D )

I'm thinking you guys are right, and it would be easier and probably cheaper to just get another shotgun.

The main reason I don't buy Benelli is the overpricing. Another reason is that they have very poor customer service. I think their PR stinks.

I'm not saying that Benelli isn't a good, even a great gun. I honestly can't afford them. Even if I could, I'd rather buy their knock-offs. I enjoy my Stoeger 2000s. They have been very reliable. They go bang when I want them to. Yet, if I wanted a barrel for a Stoeger, I'd be in the same boat. I'd even buy a Franchi I-12 if I wanted to have a pretty 2000. I've read many posts about Stoeger and Benelli being difficult to approach. Back before Beretta bought Franchi, Luigi Franchi was easy to deal with. Now try since they've come under the Beretta/Benelli Holdings.

rcmodel has a great analogy. That is good thinking.

that's actually a fantastic suggestion. i would geta Stoeger 2000 and an extension, if they make them. i would think the benelli ones will fit.

I don't know about the extensions, but the shim kits from the Benelli fit the Stoeger 2000 with a very minor modification. Drill a small hole in the shim to allow for the firing pin mechanism to be completely extended when the bolt is pulled back. I also had to drill a very small and shallow hole in the stock to allow the shim to seat properly in the stock.

If the gun is shooting high, the D shim will pull the point of impact down because it is thicker at the top. If the gun were shooting low, then you would need a shim that was thinner at the top, like an A or B shim.

Brownell's has the shims.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Luck? I bought a used M1 with a 2 barrel set. This was after trying (without success) to buy a long barrel from Benelli for my Tactical. I tried finding a barrel for a customer a few years ago and had no luck with that one either. They really do make it a pain. I've seen a couple used guns over the years that came with a pair of barrels. I sold off the gun with the rifle sighted barrel and my long barrel ended costing about $35.

Slight thread hijack, but does your have the 14" barrel or is that shorter than 14"? Any idea where to buy 14" barrels?

Perhaps...But, it never hurts to add a Benelli (semi or pump) to your collection. Heck, I hardly fire my own Benelli, a SuperNova Tactical (yes..I realize this is an "M1" thread), but I take pride in its ownership nonetheless.

Each to his/her own I guess. ;)
