Why the Encore?

I see it 2 ways.

Hey There:
While I will agree with all of you on the issue of T/C and others pushing things sometimes a bit too far. I hate hunting shows. They always get their monsters and no one else could unless they did exactly what they guy on the show did.
You must wear the same clothes , use the same guns, and loads and you know the drill.
It gets old fast.
I do use the Encore and it is an Extremely accurate gun. {.50 cal ML}
It will turn into other cailbers too. But. I reload and have for over 30 years.
Not just slam style. I am an accuracy nut. The Encore along with any other decent rifle will shoot as well as the owner wants it to.
Factory accuracy is just that. Usually not worth talking about. No matter what gun. Some get luck and buy a gun that just happens to shoot factory ammo really good. That is cool. Most do not.

While I love MY Encore I know there are so many others out there that can and do shoot just as well and likely put the Encore to shame as far as looks goes.

Merry Christmas. :)

i have the same problem, i also dont see the point of a very expensive single shot, if i want a single shot ill get a hundred dollar rossi or h and r. my savage 11 hits the same bullet hole at 100 yards. i dont see why someone wants a t c, it cant be more accurate then my savage repeater and at double the price

Yeah the encore will do it. It's just a savage, winchester or remington will get the same(more likely better) accuracy alot cheaper and easier. Also, go to any type of rifle match, you don't see many encores on the lines.

I agree.

Hey again :
I agree with you . Here is why I use the Encore. I live and hunt in Michigan. SW lower Mi. We can not use rifles. {Centerfire} Shotguns or muzzleloaders only.
So , I chose the ML. Shotguns can not shoot as accurately as my Encore or as far. I am held to 1 shot which made me a better hunter. I had to wait.

Most 12 ga. shotguns kick so hard with the new slugs out there that I just don't care for it anymore.

I have Remington 700s . Many of them and you are right. They are set up for long distance and way to heavy for deer hunting. I do have one 700 mountian light weight in a .270 that is an awesome rifle. When I can use it , it kills every deer it is aimed at.
My 700 PSS rilfes take P-dogs at over 700 yards. Yes , they are accurate.
.223s and .308. But at almost 14 lbs they are somewhat hard to carry.

My .300 WM is an Interarms Mark 10 that shoots 3/4" at 100 and is a well tuned rifle too. But again I can not use them here .
I only paid $550.00 for my Encore way back. Blued gun and not a pro hunter.
I like blued guns and have not had much luck with any SS guns.
One just about every SS gun I have ever had the bores were bigger. Not sure why , other than a tooling issue at the factory.
I my opinion tighter is better. All my blued guns have always printed tighter groups.
That is my story and I am sticking to it. :)

I am thnakful that I live in a area of Kansas where you can't get cable. From the few hunting shows I've seen they are not worth watching. However no matter how over hyped they make the encore. I would not sell or trade mine for anything. About 10 years ago I was at the range and the guy next to me was shooting one. It was chambered in .338/06 and i fell in love. Took me a three years to buy one and I have not been disapointed. I have two frames and 8 barrels. I like the pro-hunter version the best it took a little work but all of my barrels will shoot one inch or under at 100 yards. I have owned alot of rifles that have disapointed me over the years. A couple winchester 70's, a ruger m77, and anything that said remmington made in the last 15 years. Sold them all except one. My wifes rifle but I have so much money tied up in it to make it shoot even decently I would never recoup it. The encore and a little time at the reloading bench has proven to me that it was a great purchase.

I like the T/Cs for barrel interchanging without sending it back to the factory for a fit, i.e. H&R, etc. If I'm not mistaken, T/C does guarantee 1 MOA with handloads. If I couldn't get my groups there or smaller, I would return the barrel, and I did. My Pro Hunter 50X209 ($999.00) came with a bad bore. They replaced it free. I shouldn't have had to send it back. Quality control should have caught that issue.

As to accuracy of T/C products, remember, T/C's Contender still holds the world record for accuracy from a pistol: 0.75" X 1.5" at 500 yards. (I know, this if rifle country). My point is accuracy potential. How many rifles group that well at 500 yards?

Other than the barrel changing ability, my choice would be a Ruger No 1. Now there's a beauty of steel and wood. I like the Tropical in .375 H&H!! <<drool!!>>
