WI Senate now debating CCW bill

We're busy getting ready to lobby for the CCW cause here in MD in January, and I'm watching what happens in WI with baited breath.

Anyone know what happened with HR1243? I'm about to search around and see...

AIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!

This rebuttal is making my head spin!

Somebody actually pays this person to represent them? Holy crap!

"... why if I saw somebody with a gun right out there in front, why, I'd be afraid of him."
From the 'good' senator (I believe from the 26th?) while trying to make sense of open carry only.
-
(well - paraphrase)"... if you want guns, fine. Let's just be careful where we allow them!"

Ok. I'm getting even dumber than I was before.
-

Now this senator want's us to believe that this bill will have terrorists sneaking weapons into government buildings if citizens are licensed to carry.

Can't somebody just get up and slap her?
-

Blah blah blah, blood in the streets, blah blah blah, more guns in the streets, blah blah blah, more guns in State Fair and Summerfest, blah blah blah, shootouts over vehicle accidents, blah blah blah, day care centers will have guns in them all a sudden. vote, ammendment denied, vote, ammendment denied, vote, ammendment denied, times 100.

x

Great news guys!!!!

Congrats! Your hard work might pay off!

Even though I'm still in a no-issue state, I want to thank Monkeyleg and the others for the hard work put in to this fight. Another ccw state added to the list just helps our cause here in Maryland. :)

We passed it with one vote more than needed for the override.
1 more than we needed for the override? How does this compare to the last Senate vote? Just curious... and looking for a guage.

I'm almost afraid to get excited. This WGO :)cuss: ) still has me in a bad mood.

They had veto-proof numbers last time, too, as I recall--until the veto actually came down. When the override vote came, several who had voted for the measure before turned on the good guys and voted no.

One turn-coat republican as I recall...

Anyhow, I have a feeling a few of these Democrats in the "Aye" column, are counting on the fact that it will be coming back around, and they can change their mind.

Life sucks as a pessimist! ;)

Ok... so the name of this board is being changed from THR to TMI, right? :neener:

In the Senate last year, we managed the override. It was the Assembly that tripped us up (and it was a Democrat that had been writing pro-CCW op-ed pieces). What's gonna happen next, who knows. I'll say this: if we fail this year, I'm signing up on a "kick the p***** out!" campaign, to rebuild the legislature from the ground up!

You could say I'm still steamed about last time...

Let me second that, please, and add this: we're all in this together. So long as a single law-abiding American citizen is deprived of his or her civil rights, we all are. Wisconsin's fight to reestablish its citizens' Second Amendment civil rights is everyone's.

Trip20, last year we passed the bill in the Senate with one more vote than was necessary for an override.

We kept all five Democrats who voted for the bill, and for the override, in the last session.

We should also pick up Senator Luther Olsen (R) on the override.

It's in the assembly where we're going to be really close. If we can hang on to the five Democrats who voted for the override, and pick up just one freshman of three or four possibles, we're there.

IF I remember correctly, the Assembly is supposed to debate it next week (please don't quote me on that)...

Then they'll probably break for the Holidays (everyone have a cool Yule!). Then the Goobernor vetos, then we work on overriding it. Hopefully, the Senate override won't be scheduled for the same day as the state of the state address like last year (talk about foolish!). With any luck, we SHOULD have it decided by Feb...

But I want it now ...

Seriously - very good job people. Fingers crossed, awaiting whatever happens after the veto.

They cannot deny you your rights forever.
