It was a surprise anniversary gift.
I have been shooting a blued 4" .38-Special Police Service Six for some of my really hot .38-Special handloads, trying to keep my 4" 686 and 4" Highway Patrolman strictly for shooting my .357 Magnum handloads. The Ruger Service Six is a strong and accurate revolver but the chambers don't allow me to shoot .38 Special with 173-gr hard cast Keith bullets (13.5 gr of 2400 or 5.5-gr of Unique).
I've been using the 686 for the .38 Keith role.
So when I saw a 6" stainless Security Six yesterday I got to thinking, "That would be a great gun to shoot my rompin'-stompin' kickin'-butt heavy Cast Boolit loads thru." I convinced myself that if I had that Security Six I could shoot the Keith loads in it and enjoy some more velocity over the four-inch gun I've been playing with.
So this morning I called Kathy and asked her to bring me the blued Service Six when she came to town. When asked why, I said that I was looking to trade it in toward a 6" stainless revolver I had seen for $299.
Well, she called and told me she would make it into town just as I was getting off for lunch. "Just meet me at the gun shop." I figured she would hand it off to me and I could then trade the Service Six and some cash for the Security Six.
But when I got there, she had already bought me that Security Six!
"Happy Anniversary, Sweetie" she said in front of all the patrons and guys behind the counter. "Don't get rid of one to buy another..."
