My acquaintance has recently got into gun ownership due to my propaganda. He got 2 revolvers – a 6 and 7 shot 4” 686 and some long pieces. Last week he took his wife to the ranges to try various guns for the first time in her life.
She proved very capable with all guns – so much so that the instructor refused to take money for the training class, charging them only for ammo!
While doing great, after a couple of cylinders she could not press the trigger on a 686 revolver any longer.
So he got her various semi-auto guns in 22 and 9mm and .40 to try, since they have much lighter trigger pool. Sure, the range guns are not too clean but the 22 malfunctioned 2-3 times per magazine and two of larger caliber semi-autos malfunctioned as well. They got another revolver in 22 then, where she again could only pull the trigger half a dozen times – with spectacular accuracy.
She – the mother of 3 children - said “Screw it, I would rather exercise my trigger finger than face an invader with a semi-auto…”. He is yet to introduce her to the Mossberg 590…
