Wife wants a taurus

Hi all. My wife has decided that she wants a gun aslong as she can get something on it pink. I took her to the gun store today to have a look at what they had. They had a Taurus ultra-lite in 32H&R MAG that she really liked. She liked the feel and the weight of it, so did I actually.

I may have to borrow it if she gets it.

They wanted 395 for it but Im not sure if thats a good deal or not. Buds has them for 341 but after transfer and shipping costs it would be pretty close to the same. Is there any one on here that has one, if so what do you think of it. Please, I dont want somebody chiming in about how Taurus sucks unless you actually had one or had experience with one or about how the .32 aint a .45. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You have a couple of things working for you: (1) Your wife (not you) picked it out, and (2) She likes it. I'd say if she can handle the recoil in an ultra-lite gun, go for it!

Thanks guys. The only stipulation for buying it is that she said she would pay for it but I had to make it pink. At first she wanted the whole thing pink(frame and all) :barf:

but now she just wants pink grips with a few in different colors so she can accessorize her outfit. Im not excited about it but if it makes her happy than Im happy.

Your looking at the Model 731 I take it. It is my constant companion ,only mine is in Total Titanium (no longer made). The present model is Aluminum and stainless I think and weight is like 17oz (mine is 13oz) . She can shoot .32 S&W longs for easy practice with very mild recoil.

The personal defense loads by Federal are 85 grn bullets , and even in the light gun these are not that bad to shoot - she will notice the recoil with the magnums . I think they do in fact make pink grips and perhaps pearl also for the small frame Taurus guns . Mine sports faux ivory that I had a friend scrimshaw and I fit a Tyler T-Grip which helps me with quick sight alignment.

Price generaly found for a new 731 is in the $350 area. The Titaniums were significantly higher but I got mine for about the same price . Mine is not ported - if you can find one without porting I recommend you consider that non-ported option.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think she'd be able to handle it just fine. Ive got some 32S&W and some Longs for an old top break revolver I bought a while back that she can use for practice ammo. She has fired my GP100 with full house 357 loads and she didnt mind that at all so this would be easy for her. I was looking at Ajax grips and she saw some purple and blue grips and her eyes just lit up.

I recently got a Taurus 605 in 3", having wanted one ever since I missed getting one in the '90s. I have been very pleased with the quality. It's a blast to plink with from very mild 38s up through 125 gr. SJHP 357 magnums, and I have no problem getting 2-1/2" groups at 25 yards... with my glasses on. Wolff springs work magic in DA.

I've have an early 90's model 605(?) in .357 and a PT99. Both have been good guns. The 357 shoots better than I can. It will clover leaf with .38sp 158 SWC at 50ft. The PT99 also shoots as well as my Beretta. I would see if you can find one used as it seems they don't tend to hold their value as well as other guns. I picked mine up for $250 at a local shop in almost new condition. Not sure about the model you're looking at, but the fit and finish of the current 85ULS does not appear to be as nice as the one I have. For the amount of money your spending, I would also look at a used Smith or Colt and see if your wife may like that. You could always paint the grips pink.

I saw some pink grips on revolvers at Gander Mountain but didn't really check what company's guns they were on.

Taurua had a Total Titanium .38 Special in Blue and Gold with White Pearl Grips but it's marked "discontinued" on their site.

Charter Arms has a new revolver out named The Pink Lady. The frame is actually pink and from what I'm told the women are going nuts for it. (not that I can understand why) This revolver weighs only 12oz so it's no heavier than the S&W Arilite revolvers. If your wife is worried about matching her outfits the have them in Gold and Black, Red and Black and Red and Silver too.
