One thing I would like to try this year in addition to turkey hunting is hunt for wild pig/ boar in the mid TN area with my brother in law. I have never been and would like to know where to go with out spending thousands of dollars on the trip. I have searched on line and came across places that let you hunt for boar, even very large Russian boar weighing several hundred to over a thousand lbs. That is probably a little much for me, don't know what I would do with a pig that big, plus a lot of these lodges are around or over a thousand a person and don't want to put that much coin into it right now. So basically I would like to know where to hunt pigs that weigh a 100 -200 lbs at a reasonable price I guess.

I also wonder about the equipment; I have a 12 ga shotgun with a red dot on it and a bolt action .30-06, I was wondering which gun would be better suited to take for something like that. I also have a .357 as a possible backup. Any other advice is welcome as well.

You may want to check out this place. http://www.crookedcreekhunt.com/ We (a couple of friends and I) went there last September, and had a great time. They will guarentee you will get a shot at a pig. (your job is to hit it.) or you don't pay. Very good people to work with. Their guides are very good. (Ask to see if Steve is available) and for a litlle bit more, they will butcher your pig for you before you leave.

a really nice addition is there is a good grocery store about a mile up the road so you don't have to bring a bunch of food with you if you don't want.

BTW, the 30.06 will do just fine. I used a .308. The ammo I used was the Remington Corelokts.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Thanks auberg, I appreciate the recommendation. I'll check it out, looks like a good place.
