I currently own the standard Wilderness 5 stitch instructors belt. I am looking into the 5 stitch CSM (polyethelyne insert for more rigidity) belt as my original is starting to wear out.

Does anyone here use the CSM belt as an everyday belt? If so what ore your impressions?

I have a 5 stitch and I think its all you need personally. The ONLY way I can see using one with a poly insert is IF you are something along the lines of a swat operator and have more than just a gun and a reload or two on it. If you are basically loaded out for duty (radio, cuffs x 2, weapon, reloads x 2, ASP, pepper, knife, glove pouch etc.... I admit, I dont wear mine daily, but its PLENTY stiff.

I have to ask...how old is yours and how much do you carry daily on it.

Mine is close to four years old. Just carry a holster, 1 reload, cellphone and leatherman. Still works pretty good. I was just looking to see it the extra support was worth while.

I'm curious: how long have you worn the 5-stitch belt? My reason for asking is that I've worn one almost daily for about three years and it's still serviceable. I have brushed it with a stiff brush two or three times but that's all the care I've given it.

I have both versions and wear the 5 stitch daily. They both work well but the plastic lined version (mine is a 3 stitch) is so stiff that it's not quite as comfortable to the waist.

No insert needed or desired, unless you're carrying a lot on that belt. If you're not, I find belts with the insert uncomfortable.

I stopped wearing my poly-insert belt as was very uncomfortable while seated, even with nothing on the belt.

How do these belts work?I see in the ads that it doesn't have a standard buckle. When you pull it tight, does it stay tight?

The belt is about 12" longer than your waist size, it goes through the buckle then doubles back such that velcro secures the loose end.

With the traditional version, if you're clipped onto a carbiner, should load apply to the carbiner then the buckle tightens on the belt and will not open.

Here's a pic, the carbiner clips on the right-most part of the buckle, the middle post slides left and right in the buckle.

I used to wear a 5 stitch, I havn't worn it since I got a CSM!

Edited to add: I wear my CSM every day, and have since they came out.

I wear a 5-stitch.

I wear a 5-stitch model and carry a fixed blade knife, flashlight, two reloads and full size 1911 on it. I really can't see needing the CSM unless I was carrying a lot more weight.

As far as staying tight, yes, they do. The more load is put on it, the tighter the buckle cinches on the webbing. Personally, I'm done buying leather belts now that I've worn a Wilderness belt for a while.

I have a three stitch model that I've worn for about three years now that I'm happy with.
I'm probably going to get one of the 1.5" khaki ones for a little less conspicuous casual wear.

I have a 5 stitch and a CSM. I find the 5 stitch more comfortable for daily wear. I wear the CSM in long gun classes where I typically have a bunch of extra ammunition on my body.

Hey Tecumsah

I have a Liger belt. Its pretty good especially if you need to dress nicely. It can go with a suit if need-be. Liger makes a firm belt but the instructor belt is much better in my opinion.
