I know this is likely a dumb question, but will a Finn M39 fit into a Russian 91/30 stock without any modification? I realize the M39 started life as a 91/30 and rearsenaled by the Finns, but I'm not sure it would be a drop in operation to place it back into a Russian stock.
Has anyone ever tried this?

While I haven't tried it, the M39 surely has a heavier barrel with a different profile. The M39 stock is also made entirely different, if my memory does not betray me, they were made in some furniture factory and are a two piece job.

The receivers are the same. The barrels are slightly different. I never tried to fit one into the other stock, but I'd imagine there would be some minor fitting required. The upper handguard might be a problem. It's so thin, there isn't much you can do with it if it doesn't fit.

Might be a good time to learn how to bed a rifle if you wanted to try it. Obviously it wouldn't be original, so some relieving and Acraglass might not be a waste of your time with an M39 action.

Whatever you do, keep your original stock if it's salvageable. Give someone a fighting chance to return it to original at some point in the future, if you ever decide to sell it.
