I'm relatively certain I'm receiving a Pedersoli Harpers Ferry flintlock in kit form this Christmas. My wife saw me drooling over one a few months ago while browsing Dixie's website and a package form DGW came in last week.

I have some .570 roundball and .010 Wonderlube patches for my Zouave, but have some pure lead .575 Minie Ball (515gr?) for it as well.
I've noticed the Pedersoli has a rifled barrel.
I'm currently under the impression that the recommended powder charge wouldn't generate sufficient pressure to expand the minie's skirt to engage the rifling, but I'm not certain about this.

Has anyone ever fired Minie ball from these pistols?
If so, did it appear they were stabilized or did they simply tumble in flight and keyhole?

Thanks!

Articap, thanks for those links! That's just what I was looking for.

I think I'll simply stick to the tried and true patched round ball, but I will put at least one minie down the bore to see what happens (with maybe 45-50gr FFFG).
I'm curious that way. :D

Thanks again.
