I have an older Bersa 83 in .380 that I can't find mags for. Does anyone know if the Bersa Thunder .380 will fit and function in my older model?

Thanks, Bill

I didn't see this post yesterday when I was here, sorry.
As a general rule, no, the two magazines are not interchangeable though some Model 83 pistols can make use of Thunder magazines with modifications.

Go here:

You should be able to find the magazine you need for your specific pistol.HTH

Bersa Thunder 380 on ammoclip.com

may work. Looking at ammoclip.com - The "Bersa Thunder 380, .380ACP, 7 round, nickel body with chromed steel follower and poly finger rest, factory-new" looks extremely similiar to the mag that came with my Model 83.

A little conturing of the mag body adjacent to the front sides of the follower would be required. The holes are the same as is the little "lip" on the extreme lower side of the magazine body. The wording is also the same and in the same location.

I ordered one from Condorsflight.com for $27. I'll let you know how it works out.

Great input - thanks, Bill

Question answered

well, I got a new factory Bersa Thunder 7-shot .380 mag for my Model 83. The new mag fits perfectly with no modification. I have hand cycled about 30 rounds through the pistol. I will try it at the range this weekend but it looks like a perfect match.

Regards, Bill

Is the model 83 the Bersa with the stippled wood grips? I need to dig in my safe and see if my Bersa is a 83 or a 383, I can't remember. I also only have one mag, I should get a spare or two as well.

I like my older Bersa. I had a used Thunder variation also, I think a 95, I can't remember, it didn't work well.

I seem to be the only person that ever had a bad Bersa.

Don't feel singled out Moonclip, I have had several Bersa pistols come through the shop for this problem and that.
When the trigger function breaks on these guns let me assure you they are a real pain to repair and reassemble.

Yes, stippled wood grips

they are stippled on the lower half.

I have a Thunder 380 and a new verson of the Thunder -9 and these are my favorite guns. Shoot and handle better than my SR-9 and my XD-9. I can't believe how accurate they are. Sort of like a Timex!!

The new Thunder 380 7-shot mag worked fine

in my old Bersa 85. Bill

Bersa Mags

I just got off of the phone with Eagle Imports, the importers of Bersa, and according to them, the Thunder 380 mags work in the model 83. That is all that they sell anymore.

ON a separate note, I have a model 83 and the trigger spring broke, which is why I was calling Eagle imports. .
Can anyone provide me with some direction on how to install the new spring? A picture of one properly installed, or a service drawing would be great. All I can find on the web is the parts blow up. Thanks for your help guys.
