Will NATO ever go with .45 ?

MILJDECKARD, I got a good laugh when I saw what I wrote, thanks for that a brain cramp on my part with a good laugh. Thanks for the clarity.:D

America like pistols, rest of NATO pretty much frowns upon them. Personally id rather carry a 9mm into war than a 45 anyways. :neener:

In the military pistols are issued to those who will almost never use them. If they think you'll actually see some fighting you get a rifle. Pistols are lousy combat weapons (compared to a good rifle). So its not really about 9mm v 45 but why spend the money on upgrading a weapon system that sees very little use.

I read somewhere that the Army is purchasing tens of thousands new Beretta 92's.

Our GI's are going to carrying 9mm's for generations to come.

Who gives a sh*t about nato anyways?

The US. Why else would they pay the lion's share of its costs? There are several reasons why NATO remains important to US interests. I would bother to explain them to you but I am almost certain it would be a waste of time. There were scads of papers published on this topic recently (they coincided with the 50th aniversary of the alliance). Thus if you actually care to inform your self a little bit it should be fairly easy.

The long and short of it is the US cares about NATO because NATO serves US interests.

As to the OP's question. I doubt it.

Europeans consider a 9mm a hand cannon. Many of their cops carry .32 ACPs.
