William Henry EDC

I was looking for a knife that is high quality, looks good, and will last forever (yeah, yeah, I know most quality knives will last forever if taken care of, etc.). I saw a WIlliam Henry EDC in a knife shop I went to and thought it was pretty decent. Anyone have any experience with them? The price is getting on up there, but if it lasts long enough to give to my kids I think it would be worth it.

WH makes pretty good quality stuff. I had one of the edc models and it just wasn't for me. My list of pros and cons:

Pro:
-Outstanding fit and finish
-Beautiful blade grind
-Buttery smooth opening
-Sharpest edge I've ever seen

Cons:
-Too small
-Very basic materials (aluminum handles and D2 on the model I had)
-Aluminum handle prone to flexing
-Knurling on thumbstud too aggressive

I would say if you are going to buy a WH to save a little and go beyond the basic edc model. What killed it for me was the inexpensive handle. Just black painted aluminum. It flexed very easily and felt flimsy. I expect more of a knife with a $300 base price.

If you want a nice knife that looks fancy and is good quality, look at Mcusta. More bang for your buck.

Not trying to be difficult but what do you mean by "top grade, mid tech manufacturer"?

The knives are shop produced by people handling the different steps, but they're not cranked out by machine either. Somewhere between completely hand made and cranked out by a factory.

A William Henry T10 Black and Tan Lancet was my first upper end knife.

I loved the quality and fit & finish , but it felt more like a gents office knife than an every day hard use knife. If I had to describe it I would say " dainty".

I ended up selling that one and getting a small sebenza.

That was years ago, but for $250 I would get something a bit more robust that the WH.

At that price point the Reeves Sebenza and Spartan Akribis are outstanding folders. Only my opinion and I have not owned a Henry.

I will have to check out some of the others you recommend. I am looking for a folder that will last long enough for my kids or grandkids to tear up, err.., keep.

You'll probably loose the Sebenza before you tear it up.
