I have a H&R 1871 Buffalo Classic 45-70 Rifle (32" barrel) with this sight combination. I have the Williams peep sight at it's maximum height and it is still shooting 6" low at 100 yards. I took some measurements today and it looks like I have the AUG version of the Lyman Globe sight which is the tallest of that series at 0.584" from bottom of dovetail to center of the aperture insert.
If I understand this correctly to improve the situation my options are to raise the Williams rear sight ( not possible) or lower the Lyman Globe front sight.
There are (2) others in this Lyman 17A series. The AMI model which is 0.494" high or AHB which is 0.404" high.
Would either of these help raise my point of impact to equal point of aim (hope I have these terms right). More directly I want the bullets to hit where I am aiming at 100 yards. Just for general info with same combo ( different height on the peep sight) I am shooting 8 round - 2" groups at 50 yards.
Any help or feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
