Wilson Combat Slip on frontstrap

I've got one. It needs some kind of adhesive to keep it in position. I haven't been able to tighten the grip screws tight enough to keep it in place. Other than that, it is "grippy", and it doesn't look bad either.

I had one on a Springer for years that gave me no problems at all, and stayed put without hassle. Different grips could cause a problem.

Anapex, try two drops of blue Loc-Tite behind it, then lock it down and leave it for a day. The Blue stays somewhat flexible, is easy to remove, won't harm the finish and should provide the locking power you need.

A really cheap alternative to try before you buy...Get some coarse emery cloth...60-80-120 grit or skateboard tape. Cut a strip and put it on the same way, under the grips. Used to do that when I shot IPSC. Worked really well. I had the Wilson checkered grip too. Worked well. As I recall, I ran a little bead of rubber cement under it before installing it. Never moved. Its real metal.

A 1911forum member let me borrow one... it was... interesting. I tried it on two guns and tried skateboard tape on one gun... Actually, I'm not much of a fan of either of them. Maybe if I had to hold onto my gun while hanging upside down after running a marathon... I guess I'm just not high enough impact to need the extra grip.

For deciding if you should go with checkering on a custom gun, I think it very much serves its purpose.

Cheap plastic

Wonder if they've changed the material recently, because the piece I just got is cheap looking plastic; however, it does serve the purpose. :barf:

I used both. Stuck some grip tape on the frame, and glued the Wilson strap to the tape. Wasn't bad atall. Stays put, and is easlily removed that way.
