I tried to prime my twice shot win brass last night using my Lee auto prime tool and 7 of the 25 cases would not fit into the shell holder on the priming tool, what happened? They started out as new brass and I had loaded them twice and shot them out of my M96 swede, no problems with my rem or s&b brass

If I'm not mistaken, American Manufacture 6.5x55 has a different rim size as foreign made (actual size) 6.5. Just use an .308/.30-06 shell holder, you "should" be fine.

Most American made brass for 6.5x55 is based off standard .473" case size. The chamber specs for 6.5x55 is actually .479" at the base and rim size is .480".

Your brass has expanded to chamber size and it's not fitting in the shell holder now. As noted, European brass usually is closer to spec than U.S. brass.

I believe the #3 shellholder is appropriate for your priming tool. That's what Lee shows for the 6.5x55. Chances are you're using the #2.
