My hunting buddy has a new defender that is giving him some problems. The gun seems to function fine at the range, however, he took it out to the field this past year and had several double feeds. I guess that is what you would call it. When he would rack the slide, usually after firing the first round, two shells would feed from the tube magazine and jam the action. I was just wandering where to start. I feel comfortable replacing any factory part that might cause the problem, but if it need tweaking I might suggest a gunsmith. Any help?

You know this is a post purely designed to descredit the ALMIGHTY 1300 Defender!

You 870 guys will stop at nothing.

Well, I just picked up my brand new Winchester Defender 1300 today and plan on taking it to the range as soon as possible.

It's got an 18" barrel with Tru-Glo fibre optic front sight and an 8 round capacity.

It's the first pump shotgun I've ever had, as my only other SG is a Benelli M1 Super 90 so figure I better start practicing with the new guy real quick.

First thing I noticed was how much lighter it feels compared to my Benelli.

Right now we have a few inches of snow on the ground with some more forecast for Monday, so I can only hope the range where I shoot is going to be open.

Hopefully no double feeds first time out. Anyway, won't really know too much about until I put a couple of hundred rounds of '00 through it.

Safe shooting.

Robby you will love that Winchester.

I have had a great time with mine.

Post a range report and let us know how it went.

Robby, glitches with new shotguns, even Big Fours, are uncommon but do occur. Sometimes all that's needed is work polishing, AKA use.

I recommend light loads, and lots of them. If it glitches after more than 200 rounds, get it to a warranty center. However, it probably won't need that trip.
