Win large rifle mag primer vs. Reg large rifle primer

OOPS!!! I loaded fifty rounds; ten each of five different powders for my 308win and i realized I purchased large magnum primers instead of large standard rifle. Should I pull them and redo it or will it be ok.

PS these were starting loads for 3031,4198,benchmark,varget and I think rl15...

If your loads are truly minimum loads, you SHOULD be ok. I say this because I've used I've used Win large and Mag primers interchangeably in some ball powder .308 loads with no noticeable difference in performance or pressure signs.

To be 100% + safe though, dismantling and using the standard primers is safest - although de-priming live primers can be not the safest thing to do either.

I'd say it would be no problem if they are at min. load.

Take it to the range and see how it does.

Well, lets take a look at your loads.
308, 168gr MatchKing
1. Varget 39gr. According to Hodgdon this load is 3 full grains below minimum. Mag primer or not this load should be scrapped. It can be dangerous going below minimum.

2. 39gr R-15. As Alliant has 42.8gr as max you should be just fine with this load.

3. 41gr R-15. Same as #2

4. 42gr Varget. That is the starting load according to Hodgdon. You should be fine.

5. 43gr R-15. .2gr over Alliants Max. You might want to scrap this one as well. Although your rifle may feel differently about what Alliant claims as max.

Info is from The complete reloading guide for the .308 Winchester From Gander MTN (go figure it to be messed up). On page 20 is the info from SIerra I beleive...I cross referenced against the hogdgon pages ANd found you r numbers as well. Sucks that there is this much conflicting info that can really hurt somebody...

I'd shoot 'em. But then again, I'm an engineer, I know how many safety factors we build in. To me it doesn't look like you're pushing things too far.

But, if something does blow up, you get to keep all the bits you can find. My opinion is just that, and worth what you paid for it.

Koos, who got quite nice groups with his 30-30 150 grainers at 2413 fps with the local BL-C(2) equivalent...

I've seen very little difference between WLR and WLRM in 30-06 with IMR4895. BUT, that was with loads in the middle of the range, working up from minimum, and I suspect some powders are more forgiving than others.
