Ive found a Winchester model 70 xtr in 7mag at a local gun store. I would rate gun at 65% finish and the wood stock is well used. Im thinking of getting it for a truck gun. Price is $250. The problem is that its missing the mag follower and spring and maybe the mag box (if it uses one like remington 700 adl). It is a blind non-hinged floorplate. Where can I get these parts (are they obsolete) and what are your opinions?

I'd start here.

$250 is probaby a fair price if it were in working condition and is really an XTR. I'd make sure of the availibility and cost of replacement parts. This could easily turn into a more expensive gun than you think.

XTR and blind magazine does not go together. The XTR's were top of the line walnut stocked rifles with floorplates. The blind mag models were budget guns that went by several different names, but had either cheap birch wood or plastic stocks. If it does not have a walnut stock then $200-$250 would be a fair price for one that rough, but in working condition.

There are lots of brand new guns in working condition selling for $350 right now. Figure the cost of repairs carefully.

That sounds more like a Winchester 770 which was a cheaper version of the 70. I'd be careful, could cost more to repair than it's worth.
