Win Model 70 or Remington Sendero

There are too many out of control variables for a person to get great precision on their own in one lifetime. One must read accuracy rituals for hints. Bart is so much better at getting tiny groups than me, his value is not what accuracy rituals he does, but what he does not do. If he does not bother with something, I know I can eliminate it from MY act. I did notice that the set trigger was making no more accurate groups than not using the set feature...... that does it...no more set triggers for me.

Primer shortage huh? I don't like the sound of that. There can't be that many people building match grade ammo, can there? I wonder why there would be a shortage?

I can find everything but Federal match large magnum rifle primers. It has been out of stock for months on midway, and every time I got notification that it is back in stock it sold out before I could order some. (And I mean within hours of notification) Not sure what the deal is, but I can't find them in any local stores or any gun show. I have been trying for the better part of a year now with no luck. I finally just went with regular large magnum rifle primers so I could have something.

Have owned both model 70, and remington 700. Both are great rifles. This can be like a ford vs chevy thing

It would be a tough choice for me. I don't think Winchester has anything comparable to a Sendero. I know they have a Coyote Light but it mostly comes in wsm calibers which I'm not a fan of.

I am a fan of Remington and Winchester as I own mostly their rifles.

Looking for a for a long range rifle...Probably .300 Win Mag. I've narrowed it down to these two, but I'm open for suggestions. Your thoughts?

I have 3 M70s and 4 Rem 700s (.223 Rem, .308 Win, .25-06 Rem and 7mm RM). The Win M70s shoot to <1.0" for 5 shot groups at 100 yards with Federal Premium ammo and <0.75 with my handloads. One of my M70s is a 7mm RM...a thoroughly delightful hunting rifle that gives me great accuracy and reliability. I really like the CRF, the B&C stock with bedding block, the free-floated barrel, the smooth action, 3-position safety, and the excellent trigger. I have put each of my Rem 700s in a B&C Medalist stock w/ bedding block and glass-bedded two of them, free floated their barrels, replaced the Mark Pro with Timneys and used both Federal Premium and handloads. The Rems shoot to 0.75" with Federal ammo and <0.50" with handloads...even my XCR II in .375 H&H Mag puts 5 shots in 0.75" at 100 yds. If I was purely interested in small groups and was willing to spend some dough to improve them, I'd go Rem...if I wanted max reliability, CRF, 3-position safety and MOAnything I was hunting, I'd take my Winnies straight from the factory. I happen to be really partial to the .300 WSM and plan to get a Win M70 EW in that caliber for my next elk tag. While the .300 WM is a great round, the .300 WSM does everything the WM does with less recoil and powder.

Just my thoughts...YMMV.

PS-In further thinking, elk before later winter like high country. Faced with climbing on foot (I'm 71), I'd seriously look at a Rem 700 Mountain SS in .280 Rem or a Win 70 Featherweight in .280 Rem. The Winnie is walnut/blued steel vs. B&C/SS for the Rem but saving three pounds when climbing on foot is worth thinking about. YMMV still.

I have (7) Rem700s and (4) Win70s.
I have never shot any of them with original barrels.
I just buy them to rebarrel them.
I have tooling to cut the curved extractor relif cut on the pre 64 M70s
