I have a Winchester 1200, high blue, 5 shot police marked on stock ….. it’s a nice grade with checkering on stock and slide. I recently put a 2 shot Carlson extension which gives me 7 rounds. The barrel is 18 inches and the extension is an inch or so longer. Functions great. BUT it doesn’t have the feel of the unmodified 1200. It seems much lighter without the extension and rounds. Especially up front.

Do I keep it stock? Comments. Thanks Jim

Take it off. You'll still have five and a half ounces of more of payload.

Here's another vote for the basic four shot tube - and one in the chamber - whether it's Winchester, Mossberg, or my favorite - Remington... On the street, when it's all on the line speed of maneuver and lining up on a target (quick pointing) is everything (along with good tactics...). That basic 12 ga riot gun is a one shot fight ender at close quarters if you do your part...

Keep the extension. I've known a bunch of people who've been in gunfights. Not a single one of them ever told me he wished he'd had less ammunition.

I did the same thing with my first shotgun, a Remington Model 870 with an 18" barrel. Definitely changed the way the gun felt when I was using it and eventually I took it off and went back to it's original configuration.

Thank you all for your comments. I have a couple of 870s with extended tubes but the weight and handling difference is not much. Maybe because the Winchester 1200 is light. I took the extension off because it really looks and feels better. Thanks. Jim
