A couple days ago I made a visit to a pawn/gun shop that is owned by a friend. Almost as soon as I walked thru the door he disappeared into the back of the store. When he came out he was grinning and soon I was drooling. In his hands was a drop dead beautiful 1872 Winchester 32-20 lever action rifle. I think he has an automatic door lock or I would have tried to make a run for it. I did offer to trade my Toyota Tundra for it but he just smiled and said no thanks got a truck already. My only regret is I didn't have my camera with me because this is one of those that you just love to share with others. Might have to let my wife go visit her daughters for a week or two and while she's gone do some serious haggling.

You might wanna consider a replica if the original is too rich for your blood. Uberti's rifles are better made guns than their handguns and worth every penny of their ~$1000 asking price. Here's a shot of my Deluxe Sporting Rifle .38-40 that shoots under an inch at 50yds with, so far, four different loads. It's since been fitted with a Marbles tang sight.

Craig that is one good looking setup you have. The one I looked at right now is way out of my price range, at least until I can quit paying for all my grown kids that keep promising faithfully to re pay all the money I loan. Or I could just sell my truck and get the rifle and a good horse.

Here's mine chambered in .38 wcf. It's been handed down through the family since it was bought new in 1888 and was given to me when I turned 18. It's missing a few internal parts that I'm working on finding. I don't really want to shoot it but I do want to get it back in working order. I really have no idea what it's even worth but it wouldn't matter anyway because i wouldn't sell it for any amount of money.

jkulysses - I've got one in .44-40, made in 1881 that looks nicely worn (and beautiful!) like yours. Same story, passed down through generations. I killed my first deer with it, and still hunt with it every now and then. Awesome piece of history!
