Winchester 1885 .38-55 Trapper

I recently bought a Miroku made Winchester 1885 .38-55 "Trapper" with 16.5" barrel. Just curious if anyone else owns one of these and how much velocity and energy am I losing in such a short barrel?

i have all three with the same serial number,45-70,38-55 and the 30-40 krag. but i,m no help as i have not fired them. but i have other high walls and a browning low wall in .260 that i shoot on a regular basics. they are quality made firearms that shoot well and i,m sure you will like it. a tang sight was icing on the cake for me. eastbank.

I mostly shoot the factory Winchester 255 JSP round. It's pretty anemic but a pleasure to shoot off-hand with no recoil pad. Check out my Youtube video.
