Just wondering, where do you load the shells into the magazine on the Winchester 1887, im going to be buying a replica one after i get the money, but cant find a picture of the loading port.

Winchester 1887s don't have a loading port in the conventional sense. Like another of Browning's shotguns, loading and ejection are through the same port.

To load, first open the action by operating the lever fully forward. Depress the shell lifter to the bottom, exposing the magazine tube. Then press the shells into the magazine tube past the shell stops, as with any conventional shotgun. After filling the magazine and closing the lever, the lever must be fully cycled again to feed a round into the chamber. Alternatively one can feed a round into the chamber and close the chamber. These new 1887s can operate with a round on the lifter, similar to an older Benelli, giving it a capacity of 7. (ie 5+1+1)

Sounds awkward, but this was state of the art technology in 1887.

Im Interested in barrel lengths of the 1887

Can anyone tell me how many length variations there are for the 1887? and what the longest barrel length made is-because here in the UK all repeating shotguns have to have a minimum barrel length of "24,-which was introduced after a psycho went on a Rambo-style killing spree in Hungerford with a collection of assault rifles, a couple of hand-grenades and a Beretta M92FS, in August 1987.

Lever action lengths

Gday_ I am in Australia where the only way to get a large capacity shotgun is in a lever.
Originally they were only available in a 20" barrel with IC choke, they are now available in a 26" with I think full choke-I had originally intended to get the longer barrel one but my planned use for it has changed.
hope that helps
