Serial # 27446. This rifle has been handed down in my family. Trying to get more info. on it.

Standard 1894 26" Sporting Rifle.

Is the front sight blade broken off?
Can't see it in the picture.

Otherwise it appears to be in pretty nice condition for it's age.

It's definitely a keeper!

Very nice. for sure id get that front site fixed though.
Unless its a small dovetail.

I have an old 30-30 just about like yours. The bead on the front sight is nearly worn off from riding in a saddle scabbard from Missouri to Wyoming, a few years in Wyoming and quick trip back to Missouri.

We don't talk about the the reason the owner left Wyoming in a hurry and never came back.

The owner was reputed to have said, "don't kill coyotes or rattlesnakes, the coyotes eat sheep and the snakes might kill the herders."


It still shoots just fine.
