I have a 1897 in 12 gauge according to the serial # made in 1900. The barrel is poor so I bought a different one and by its # made in 99...problem is that the barrel I just got has threads top and bottom to lock to the receiver but my receiver and old barrel thread lock side to side... do I need to get a certain model or year barrel ? would like to know to sell the barrel that doesn't work and for next try of a new one.

All my other ATI vids I have do me no good, but the one on 1897s was very good.

I got one and a half 1897s for $75 in 2000 at Lynnwood Guns.
I put together a working gun and sold the extra parts.
I would not have been able to do that without the video.

While not exactly answering your question, Dunlap shows how each barrel must be fitted with a reamer for the take down. That is why uppers and lowers are not interchangeable. Err, that is one reason, you may have another.
