Winchester .22LR ammo recall

I just got an e-mail alert from Winchester regarding some lots of Xpert & Wildcat .22LR ammo being recalled.

Lot numbers are printed inside the end flap of the 50-round boxes of Wildcat, and on the upper 'tuck flap' of the 500-round Xpert boxes. Lot numbers containing the letter codes XN, YA, YB or YC of each brand are being recalled.

Here's an e-mail I received from my gun club:


A product warning and recall notice has been issued for WINCHESTER .22 Long Rifle caliber ammunition.
Winchester has determined that some ammunition may contain double power charges which may cause firearm damage, rending the firearm inoperable, and subject the shooter to a risk of personal injury and/or death when fired.

Do not use Winchester Wildcat .22 Rimfire ammunition with lot numbers containing letters XN, YA, YB, or YC. The ammunition Lot Number is imprinted on the outside of the top tuck flap of the 50-round box.

Do not use Winchester xpert .22 Rimfire ammunition with lot numbers containing letters XN, YA, YB, or YC. The lot number is imprinted on the outside of the top tuck flap of the 500-round box.

Through extensive evaluation Winchester has determined the above lots of SUPER-X HIGH VELOCITY (X22LR) and POWER-POINT (X22LRPP) 22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition may contain double powder charges. Double powder charge weight ammunition may cause firearm damage, rendering the firearm inoperable, and subject the shooter to a risk of personal injury and/or death when fired.

DO NOT USE WINCHESTER SUPER-X HIGH VELOCITY (X22LR) or POWER-POINT (X22LRPP) 22 Long Rifle RIMFIRE AMMUNITION WITH LOT NUMBERS CONTAINING LETTERS XN, YA, YB or YC. The ammunition Lot Number is imprinted (stamped without ink) on the outside of the right tuck flap of the 50-round box
