Anyone have any opinions of shooting Winchester FMJ 147gr .308 ammo in DPMS LR-308 gun? Also, what would people think would be a good price for this type of ammo? I see places like Cabella's sell it for like 0.75 a bullet. Seeing, that most surplus ammo is hard to find, almost as expensive and usually shoot dirty, would shooting Winchester instead of surplus be a better option? I was thinking about getting a case of Winchester brand 147gr .308 for my DPMS LR-308 for plinking ammo. I have found a person selling it for 0.75 (includes shipping). Does anyone know any better alternatives? My goal is to get the cheapest and highest quality ammo I can for plinking. My goal would be to avoid all steel cased ammo for my .308.

It depends on how much accuracy you want out of your rifle. The cheapest GOOD ammo I've found has been PRZI partizan ammo. It's hard to find right now, but I got mine for 12.50 per box a few months ago. Now...:what:

WWB runs okay in my DPMS, but accuracy is the same as milsurp ammo; not good.

I agree, that Winchester white box is nothing more than mil-spec ammo for the commercial market.
It's plinking ammo and good cases to reload if you ever roll your own.

If you like surplus military 7.62x51 Nato ammo you will like the Winchester white box. I have about 500 rounds of it at the moment. Accuracy is as good as other surplus stuff which is fine for everything but match shooting.

but accuracy is the same as milsurp ammo; not good.

I don't understand the people who say that the accuracy is not good, what in your opinion makes it not good? Yes match ammo is better but I would hardly call the regular stuff not good.
