Greetings High Road Bretheren:
I have a Winchester 62A that my father gave me - it's a nice little rifle in pretty good shape. However, it was tapped for a tang sight and the "original" sight is long gone. I orded a Lyman #2 Tang Sight from Midway and received it yesterday. It's a very nice sight that perfectly lines up with the marks left on the receiver by the previous sight.
Here's my problem. The screws that came with the sight do not fit the rifle (both front and rear are too large). The stock tang screw won't work since it is too short with the sight installed. I'm not concerned about retapping front the front screw, since that wasn't original anyway. However, I hesitate to retap the tang for the new screw.
Lyman says that they believe that the included screws will work for most Winchesters, but not some 62As (this surprises me a bit). Does anybody know of another possible source for screws that will fit?
Thanks!
