Winchester 69a bolt/saftey stuck

One of my friends gave me an old Winchester 69a bolt action rifle which hasn't been taken care of to clean and examine. The problem I'm having is that I can't move the bolt(it barely budges) or the safety in order to remove the bolt and give it a good cleaning. Is anyone familiar with this rifle and if so have you ever had this problem? I'm tempted to try to muscle the bolt open but since this isn't my rifle I don't want to risk breaking any of the parts.

More then likely it is just gummed up with dried oil & dirt that needs to be loosened up before it will come apart.

Take the barreled action out of the stock and hose it good with penetrating oil or gun cleaning solvent and let it set a while. That should do it.
