It's been a long time since I have had a 30-30, and since I gave my elder son my 94 in .44 Mag I have been without a 94 for a few months. My youngest wants to go deer hunting and I need something I could turn him loose in the woods with and not worry about. (IE: NOT my Sako .308) I did something about that today. My local guy had one at his shop priced at $350. I thought that was reasonable, and I'm a sucker for pretty wood anyway. $375 OTD.

I do not care for the mounts or the scope, but I am sure they would suffice. If I keep a scope on it, I would prefer a smaller scope. I have a Millet 1.5-4x 32 scope that would work well. I like the silver bead front sight. He may prefer it without a scope. We'll see.

So that's an angle-eject model I see, but it appears to have the scope mounted to the left side of the receiver rather than directly above the action. Am I seeing that right?

Scope is dead center above the action. Yep, angle eject, see thru rings.
