I spent several hours this morning disassembling and cleaning my 1950s Winchester 94 standard carbine. Everything went fine and I cleaned out every bit of dirt and rust and grime in it. Reassembled everything up until the ring that fits around the mag tube and the upper hand guard. That darn thing won't slide back into place no matter how hard I push, pull or wiggle it. :banghead:.

Fixed it

Remove the front magazine tube band, magazine tube plug and plug retaining screw (be sure to catch the magazine spring--- it's under tension under ther plug.....
They are placing the magazine tube under stress and "pinching" it so the forend band won't slide into place.

After the band is in place, replace the magazine forend ratainer band, and magazine spring, plug and screw.

Hope this helps.
It's how I had to reassemble the one I had when I was a freshman in college in 1974. It's been a while since I had a 'Winnie disassembled. However, that is how I also have to dis/reassemble my 4 Marlins........
