Winchester 9422 parts

The finger lever on my Winchester 9422 is a tiny bit damaged by rust, so I want a new one to make it pretty again.

Since the 9422 is out of production, Brownells has discontinued this part (#U242050520) and I can't find another source.

BTW, I live in The Netherlands so shipping could be a problem too, so if anyone can get his hands on a lever, that would make me very happy!

Try www.gunpartscorp.com or Winchester's (USRAC's) own parts department at http://www.winchesterguns.com/services/parts/index.asp . You can download their current parts catalog and price list.

Winchester is closing their New Haven plant, but their customer service and parts service will continue to operate. I don't know if the lever is a restricted part for export/import or not, but either company will know.

If the lever has only surface rust, you might try removing it using oil and brass or copper wool (kitchen ware department of food store, or a hardware store). Quite often light rust can be removed with little or no evidence that it was ever there. Steel wool and oil is often recommended but the steel wool can scratch the bluing, which brass or copper won't.

If the rust is deep, and must be polished off, rust blue or a good cold blue can sometimes work. I don't know if there are any gun shops in your area, but of course a hot tank blue would be best if you have to go that route.
